North Sand Mountain Bison Look to Extend 10-Year Playoff Streak Under New Head Coach

After making the playoffs for the past 10 seasons the North Sand Mountain Bison look to keep the streak alive this year, however it does not come without adversity. The Bison face a daunting task of replacing most of their offensive and defensive production from last season and graduated a good senior class. Not only do the Bison face that task, but also, they have a new head coach in Scott Hall. Hall has served as the Defensive Coordinator for the Bison and was hired five days before fall camp after the resignation of Jay Lipscomb, who left due to family matters.

Last season the Bison averaged 40.5 points per game offensively. The offense was led by a lethal ground attack with a backfield that consisted of running back Kade Davis and Jackson Burgess who could take off from the quarterback position at any moment. Taking over QB duties is Aiden Haggard who was the backup to Burgess, but now has the starting job, and has a pretty good arm. The offensive line for the Bison looks solid as well, as they will be the key to keeping Haggard protected to throw the ball, and create the holes for the run game.

On the other side of the ball the Bison defense has a lot of production to replace just like the offense. The big pro is that now Head Coach, Scott Hall, is still calling the defensive plays. Hall said today that him and his staff did not have time to find a defensive coordinator since he was hired five days before fall camp. The Bison defense posted four shut outs last season while giving around 17 points per game. The Bison defense looks to be stout again this year.

Coach Hall did show pride in his squad and said they have worked hard, and that they do have to find an identity for the season on who they want to be. North Sand opens the season against Southeastern at home on August 21. Then travel to Woodville on August 28, followed by a home game against Pisgah on September 4. They will then travel to Brindlee Mountain on September 11. Followed by a home game versus Ider on September 18. On September 25 the Bison will travel to Wellborn. October 2 the Herd will face Sand Rock, then travel to Collinsville on October 9. October 16 the Bison will play Section at Section. The final game of the season will be Fyffe at home on October 23. The Bison will have a bye week on October 30.
