Scorpions Drummer James Kottak Remembered By Bands He Played With

Condolences from fans and friends continue to come in for James Kottak, former 20-year-drummer the Scorpions, who died on Tuesday (1-9). Social media posts are filled with memories of him personally and on stage. He was in the band from 1996 until 2016.

Scorpions posted: “James was a wonderful human being, a great musician & loving family man. He was our “Brother from another Mother” & will be truly missed.”

He was also well-known for his work with the band, Kingdom Come. They posted: “Love ya and carry you within my heart forever and ever.”

At times he drummed for Montrose as well as The Montrose Remembrance Band and recorded on the Montrose album, Mean. The official page for the late Ronnie Montrose wrote: “RIP James.”

He also drummed with bands such as Warrant, Wild Horses, and Buster Brown.

James Kottak passed away in his hometown of Louisville, KY. Metal Sludge.com, reported that he died of cardiac arrest, although the official cause of death has not been announced. He was 61.
