The Dade County Sheriff’s Office is partnering with Blood Assurance to host a community blood drive Tuesday, September 8, giving area residents an opportunity to help patients in need across the region.

The blood drive will be held from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Dade County Sheriff’s Office, located at 75 Case Avenue in Trenton. Donations will be collected aboard the Blood Assurance mobile unit.

Organizers are encouraging eligible residents to roll up their sleeves and donate, noting that a single donation can make a lifesaving difference for patients who depend on a readily available blood supply.

As an added thank-you, donors who give blood between September 1 and September 15 will receive a special “Sept. 11th 25th Anniversary” T-shirt while supplies last. The shirt commemorates the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

Those planning to donate are encouraged to prepare beforehand by eating a good meal, drinking plenty of water and avoiding energy drinks. Donors should also bring a valid ID with them.

The Dade County Sheriff’s Office and Blood Assurance are encouraging community members to take part and help ensure blood is available when local and regional patients need it most.

The blood drive will take place Tuesday, September 8, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Dade County Sheriff’s Office in Trenton.
