A single-vehicle incident claimed the lives of three people in the Cartersville community, just north of Ider, Alabama this weekend.

Alabama Law Enforcement Agency officials report that during the 3:00 EST hour Saturday morning, 51-year-old driver Pamela Pike’s 2015 Nissan Sentra left the roadway and struck a tree, fatally injuring herself and passenger Julie Lankford. The two were pronounced dead on the scene. A third passenger, 56-year-old Milian Penick was taken to Chattanooga’s Erlanger Hospital via airlift, where he passed away.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Highway Patrol Division will continue to investigate. They confirmed that Pike and Lankford were not wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
