Former Dade Elementary Assistant Principal Arrested on Child Sex Crime Charge

A former Dade Elementary School assistant principal has been arrested in Chattanooga as part of a child sexual exploitation investigation.

Chattanooga Police arrested 61-year-old William “Billy” Broom Thursday night after Narcotics and Vice investigators executed a search warrant at his residence.

Police say investigators found digital evidence and sexual paraphernalia during the search. According to CPD, Broom admitted to participating in sexually obscene conversations with minors.

Broom, who previously served as an assistant principal at Dade Elementary School and resigned in 2020, was taken to the Hamilton County Jail and Detention Center.

Police say he is charged with one count of solicitation of a minor-aggravated statutory rape.

Investigators are working to identify other possible victims. Anyone with information concerning the case is asked to contact Chattanooga Police at 423-698-2525.

The charge is an accusation, and Broom is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
