The Georgia State Patrol is investigating a fatal one vehicle accident on Lookout Mountain involving a person who had previously been reported missing, found deceased in a roadside ravine.
Troopers say they were called to the crash scene near the intersection of GA-136 East and Lookout Drive late Monday afternoon around 5:43pm and found a Jeep had overturned down a steep embankment near the Steven Gap area of Lookout Mountain Scenic Highway.
The initial investigation suggests the driver lost control of the eastbound vehicle while attempting to turn and left the roadway. The jeep plunged down the side of the mountain until coming to rest after hitting a tree.
The driver was declared dead at the scene and was estimated to have been deceased several hours prior to discovery.
The deceased has yet to be identified
