Early Voting Begins Tuesday in Georgia

Early voting begins Tuesday across Georgia for the November third General and Special Election.

In Dade and Walker counties, voters will have several important local questions to decide in addition to the statewide ballot. Early voting statewide runs from October 13th through October 30th.

In Dade County, voters will decide on a proposed Floating Local Option Sales Tax, or FLOST, designed to provide property-tax relief, along with a separate Transportation SPLOST proposal to fund road and transportation improvements. Dade County’s early voting will be held at the Trenton precinct in the Administrative Building from 9 until 5.

In Walker County, voters will decide whether to provide additional school property-tax exemptions for qualifying senior homeowners.

The proposal would provide a 50-thousand-dollar homestead exemption from Walker County school taxes for qualifying residents age 70 and older. Those age 75 and older would receive an exemption equal to the full assessed value of their homestead.

Early voting in Walker County begins Tuesday at the Elections Office on South Main Street in LaFayette, with additional voting locations opening later in the early-voting period.

Election Day is Tuesday, November third.
