The New Salem Mountain Festival has been postponed until November 7 and 8 due to concerns about severe weather expected to move into the area this weekend.
Festival organizers announced the decision Wednesday evening following a club meeting where members discussed the potential safety risks associated with the incoming weather.
Although the annual festival is typically held rain or shine, organizers determined that the anticipated conditions could pose a threat to vendors, visitors and staff.
Organizers acknowledged that the postponement may create scheduling difficulties for those planning to attend or participate in the event but emphasized that safety remains their top priority.
Festival officials said they will begin contacting vendors Thursday to provide additional information and discuss arrangements for the rescheduled event.
The organization is also encouraging community members to share the announcement to help spread the word and prevent visitors from traveling to the festival grounds this weekend.
The New Salem Mountain Festival is now scheduled for Saturday, November 7, and Sunday, November 8, with organizers expressing hope that everyone will be able to attend on the new dates.
