Director of Nutrition Warns Schoolboard of Increases to Cafeteria Supplies

SHARE NOW

The Dade County School Board met for their regularly scheduled meeting Monday night.

During her report, Dr. Cleta Long (Director of Nutrition) claimed that, due to issues with the national supply chain, prices may be reflected in the school cafeterias’ supplies. As the food is still being provided to the students at no cost by the federal government, the students and parents won’t be directly affected. However, there will be minor changes to the menu to attempt to alleviate some of the price increases. Shortages that directly affect the nutritional services provided by the school include milk, paper, and certain chemicals.

Shenea Hill presented updates to the NASA Hunch program; including the materials and designs that all the students are 3-D printing, Greenpower USA, and the Bob Freeman Donation Fund. More information on the Hunch program will be covered in the “Local Columns” section.
