In the latest DCS Weekly Update, the Dade County School System highlights the outstanding accomplishments of students and staff and provides a glimpse of upcoming events.
The character word for the month of November is GRATITUDE, and this update is overflowing with reasons to be thankful.
Congratulations to DMS REACH Scholars
The Dade Middle School Wolverines have two additional reasons to celebrate this month as Amaya Wilson and Bella Gibson were selected as the 2023 REACH GA Scholarship winners. Each student has been awarded a scholarship valued at $10,000. The REACH GA Scholarship program is a needs-based initiative that provides crucial academic, social, and financial support to ensure students successfully graduate from high school and gain access to college for a brighter future. The Dade County School System is proud of Amaya and Bella and eagerly anticipates their continued growth.
Davis Fall Festival: A Resounding Success
The Davis PTO, along with the dedicated faculty and staff of Davis Elementary, pulled off a spectacular Fall Festival. Principal, Ms. Charity Barton, was thrilled with the event’s success and emphasized the joy it brought to the children. The Davis community, volunteers, and staff played a pivotal role in making this festival a hit.
Dade Elementary Fall Festival: A Triumph
Dade Elementary joined the celebration, hosting an excellent Fall Festival thanks to the collective efforts of the faculty and staff, along with the support of the Dade Elementary PTO. Principal, Ms. Melissa Valtierra, expressed gratitude for everyone who participated in this annual fundraiser.
DCHS Boys Cross Country: Advancing to State Championships
The Dade County High School Boys Cross Country Team has reason to be proud after finishing in the top 4 at the recent Region Championship. This achievement has secured their spot in the GHSA State Championship. The team competed valiantly at Carrollton High School, finishing in the top 20 as a team. The Dade County community congratulates these dedicated athletes for their remarkable season.
DCHS Football Team: Second Place in Region
The Dade County High School varsity football team closed their regular season with a triumphant victory over the Armuchee Indians, ending with a score of 28 – 7. This performance secured the Wolverines’ position as the Region 7A D-1 runner-up, narrowly trailing the Trion Bulldogs. The team will now host round 1 of the GHSA state playoffs and face Mt. Pisgah Christian, a formidable #3 seed from Region 6A D-1.
DCS to Host Veterans Day Programs
Dade County Schools are set to honor our nation’s Veterans this Friday with various programs across school locations. Veterans are invited to join the festivities, with Dade Elementary offering a complimentary breakfast at 8:00 a.m., Dade County High School hosting a school-wide assembly at 9:20 a.m. with guest speaker, Mr. Tony Moreland, and Davis Elementary providing free lunch and desserts at 11:30 a.m. Dade Middle School will also have a school-wide assembly at 2:00 p.m., featuring Mr. Tony Moreland as the guest speaker.
