Coach Vic Grider
The Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association (TSSAA) announced their Hall of Fame Class of 2023. This year, DCHS Assistant Principle and Athletic Director, Vic Grider, was included in this honor.
Coach Grider had a successful career at South Pittsburg High School coaching football, where he served for 30 years. He served for 22 years as head coach, during which he had an impressive 232-54 record, leading his teams to three TSSAA State Championships (1999, 2007, 2010) and three State Runner-up finishes (2009, 2011, 2020). He was also led his team to 14 region titles. Coach Grider is also a member of the Greater Chattanooga Sports Hall of Fame. Grider joins his own father, Don (class of 2010), in joining the TSSAA HOF.
Grider told the Mountain-Valley Independent, “It is a huge honor for me to now be included in such a highly respected group of coaches and administrators. And it means a lot to me personally to be included in the same group as my dad.”
