GEFA provides loans for water, wastewater, and solid waste infrastructure; manages energy efficiency and renewable energy programs; oversees land conservation projects; and manages and monitors state-owned fuel storage tanks.
GEFA has provided more than $4.3 billion in low-interest loans to cities, counties, and infrastructure authorities for improvements to water, wastewater, and solid waste systems. More than 1,600 projects have been funded by GEFA to date, including solid waste management projects and land conservation purchases and easements.
Divisions
- The Energy Resources Division promotes energy efficiency, renewable energy, and energy assurance programs that improve the environment, strengthen quality of life, and stimulate sustainable economic development and growth.
- The Water Resources Division supports the development of water, wastewater, and solid waste infrastructure projects, which help protect the environment, facilitate economic development, accommodate population growth, and safeguard public health.
- The Fiscal Services Division provides accounting, financial underwriting, and loan servicing for Georgia communities, including reviewing and recommending loan awards. The Fiscal Services Division also ensures compliance with agency, state, and federal fiscal policies and procedures.
