Dade County Among Lowest Unemployment Rates in Northwest Georgia
TRENTON, GA — New labor force numbers released for Northwest Georgia show Dade County continuing to maintain one of the lower unemployment rates in the region.
According to the latest data, Dade County posted an unemployment rate of 3.2 percent.
Several neighboring counties also reported relatively low unemployment numbers, including Gordon County at 3.1 percent, Bartow County at 3.2 percent, Walker County at 3.4 percent, and Floyd County at 3.3 percent. Whitfield County reported a 4.0 percent unemployment rate, while Murray County came in at 3.9 percent.
Chattooga County recorded the highest unemployment rate shown on the regional map at 4.7 percent.
Across Northwest Georgia overall, the unemployment rate declined six-tenths of a percentage point over the month to 2.7 percent. The rate stood at 2.8 percent one year ago.
The regional labor force decreased by 1,151 over the month but increased by 5,572 over the year to 458,771 workers.
The number of employed residents rose by 1,628 over the month and increased by 5,771 over the year, reaching 446,222 — an all-time high for the region.
State labor officials also reported initial unemployment claims were down by 521 over the month, reflecting continued strength in the regional job market.
Economic development leaders continue to point to manufacturing, logistics, construction, healthcare, and industrial growth across Northwest Georgia and the greater Chattanooga region as key drivers of employment demand.
Many employers across the region continue actively hiring workers in skilled trades, transportation, healthcare, warehousing, and manufacturing operations.
