From the Office of DeKalb County Sheriff Nick Welden: Thank you to DeKalb County Deputies and Narcotics Agents, along with Alabama Drug Enforcement Task Force, Cherokee County K-9 Unit, Jackson County Deputies and officers with Ider, Fyffe, Crossville and Powell PD all for helping in the arrest of 24 individuals on drug related charges during the month of February. Also, a big thank you to DeKalb Ambulance Service and Department of Human Resources for always showing up to assist where we need you. On Thursday, February 1st, Agents with the Alabama Drug Enforcement Task Force and DeKalb County Narcotics Unit were working in the area of Tabor Road when Agents noticed a white Buick passenger car that appeared to be lost, moving from residence to residence. Agents followed the vehicle and observed the driver crossing the center line. Agents conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Tabor Road and Cherokee County Road 1. During the stop, Agents identified the driver as Justin Lubbe (24 of Dallas, Ga). While speaking to Lubbe, Agents noticed inconsistencies in his statement and exhibiting extreme nervous behavior. Cherokee County’s K-9 Unit arrived and deployed his K-9 which indicated a positive alert on the vehicle. During a search of the vehicle, Agents recovered a kilo of methamphetamine, a trafficking amount of fentanyl, a pistol with altered serial numbers and drug paraphernalia. Lubbe was charged with Trafficking of Controlled Substance (x2), Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Altering Identification of Firearm. Lubbe was taken to Cherokee County Jail.
On Friday, February 2nd, DeKalb County Deputies, along with Ider Police Department were sent to County Road 792 and 958 about a trailer being in the roadway causing a traffic hazard. Upon arrival, Deputies saw two subjects cutting trees off the side of the mountain and had received several complaints of people cutting several thousands of dollars’ worth of trees on private property. Deputies made contact with James Daniel Green (45 of Wildwood, Ga) and Stephanie Jean Wheeler (44 of Sylvania). During a search of the vehicle, methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia were found. Green was charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Tampering with Physical Evidence. Wheeler was charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
On Saturday, February 3rd, Deputies were dispatched to County Road 804 about a subject trying to get into a residence. Upon arrival, Deputies made contact with Harold Lefelle Thompson (64 of Flat Rock) and while speaking with him noticed an odor of marijuana. Thompson was found in possession of marijuana and methamphetamine. Thompson was charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 2nd.
Also, on Saturday, Officers with Fyffe PD conducted a traffic stop at Hwy 75 and County Road 33 finding methamphetamine in the vehicle. Leonard Lee Otinger (49 of Section) was charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
On Thursday, February 8th, Narcotics Agents observed two subjects enter a residence on Gault Ave N that they had active felony warrants on. When Agents went into the residence, they noticed a strong odor of marijuana. During a search, Agents found a trafficking amount of methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Noah Blake Hunt (26 of Fort Payne) and Nathan William Brisendine (45 of Fort Payne) was charged with Trafficking in any Illegal Drug, Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 2nd and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Michelle April Finley (49 of Fort Payne) was charged with Trafficking in any Illegal Drug, Obstructing Government Operations, Resisting Arrest and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Dustin Wayne Gass (40 of Valley Head) was charged with Trafficking in any Illegal Drug, Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 2nd, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and one warrant for Failure to Appear. Bethany Faith Waldrop (27 of Valley Head) was charged with Trafficking in any Illegal Drug, Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 2nd, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and three warrants for Failure to Appear.
On Friday, February 9th, Jackson County Deputies, along with DeKalb County Deputies were in the area of County Road 43 and the County Line when they discovered a vehicle in the woods behind a cemetery. Deputies identified the occupants and both had active warrants through DeKalb County. Methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia were found in the vehicle. Tracey Lynn Stone (43 of Rainsville) was charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 2nd and four warrants for Failure to Appear. Jesse Barnes (47 of Rainsville) was charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 2nd, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and one warrant for Failure to Appear.
On Saturday, February 10th, DeKalb County Deputies were serving papers on County Road 50 in the Grove Oak area. While there, Deputies made contact with Timothy Harold Hosch (53 of Grove Oak) who smelled strongly of marijuana. At the residence, marijuana plants and drug paraphernalia were found. Grove Oak Fire was called to the scene to do a control burn of the grow operation. Hosch was charged with Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 1st and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
On Tuesday, February 13th, Narcotics Agents went to a residence in the Sylvania area to serve a warrant on Tabetha Jordan Franklin (36 of Sylvania) for Unlawful Distribution of Controlled Substance.
Also, on Tuesday, Narcotics were in the Powell area when a Be on The Lookout was given about a reckless driver. After the Agents pulled the vehicle over, cocaine and drug paraphernalia were found inside. Elizabeth Morris Lopez (51 of Crossville) was charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
On Thursday, February 15th, Offices with Crossville PD conducted a traffic stop on Main Street finding the driver to be in possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. Ty Aaron Harbour (31 of Crossville) was charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Probation Violation and one warrant for Failure to Appear.
On Friday, February 16th, Narcotics Agents responded to a residence on County Road 33 on a possible overdose. When Agents and Deputies arrived, they were advised that Narcan had been administered by DAS. After subject refused further treatment, he was placed under arrest. Blayden Lane Woodall (21 of Fyffe) was charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and two warrants for Failure to Appear.
On Wednesday, February 21st, Narcotics Agents went to a residence on Andrew Lee Drive in Henagar to conduct a search warrant. Methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia were found inside. Cory Matthew Frazier (44 of Henagar) was charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 2nd and Resisting Arrest. Goldia Amanda Louise Henderson (50 of Section) and Landon Cole Frazier (41 of Henagar) were both charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 2nd.
On Thursday, February 22nd, Officers with Powell PD responded to a call of a possible overdose. Upon arrival, Officers made contact with Autumn Sky Townsel (28 of Rainsville). Townsel refused medical treatment and was found in possession of fentanyl. Townsel was charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Unlawful Possession.
On Friday, February 23rd, DeKalb County Deputies was on County Road 821 in Geraldine when a vehicle driven by Tonya Lynn Dixon (38 of Collinsville) pull up and stopped in the road. After Dixon exited the vehicle, Deputies made contact with her detecting a strong odor of marijuana coming from within the vehicle, which also contained a small child. During a search, Deputies found marijuana, and drug paraphernalia. Dixon was charged with Chemical Endangerment of Exposing a Child, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 1st. DHR was called to the scene to take the child.
On Monday, February 26th, DeKalb County Deputies picked up Haley Diana Gamble (40 of Dutton) from a Jackson County Deputy who had arrested her on a DeKalb County Warrant. Once at the DeKalb County Detention Center, Gamble was found to be in possession of prescription pills she did not have prescriptions for. Gamble was charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Theft of Property 4th and Theft of Property 3rd (x3).
On Thursday, February 29th, DeKalb County Deputies and a School Resource Officer were called to do a welfare check on children at a residence on County Road 9004. While there they located methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia while children were present. Narcotics Agents and DHR were called to assist with the case. Christopher John Hernandez (34 of Crossville) was charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 2nd, Chemical Endangerment of Exposing a Child, Chins/Causing Delinquency Dependent or Need of Supervision of Children.
