The Who have tapped their Live At The Isle Of Wight Festival concert film as the latest upload on its ongoing "Join Together At Home On You Tube" series. The August 29th, 1970 gig showcased the band's second straight year playing the beloved UK festival — which over the course of five days included such legendary artists as the Doors, Jimi Hendrix, Moody Blues, Joni Mitchell, Chicago, Donovan, Sly & The Family Stone, Joan Baez, Free, and Emerson, Lake, & Palmer — playing only their second never show.
The Who's "Join Together At Home On You Tube" is free to watch but fans are encouraged to donate to co-beneficiaries Teenage Cancer Trust and Teen Cancer America via the link on YouTube or at www.join-together.org.
While chatting on Britain's Absolute Radio, Roger Daltrey recalled his overriding recollection of the 1970 Isle Of Wight gig: ["Well, my main memories of that show were backstage and I was sittin' round a campfire with Jim Morrison, sharing a bottle of Southern Comfort. Needless to say, we finished the whole bottle. He then went off into the darkness, kinda sideways. I went onstage sideways, and that's the last I saw of Jim, sadly. But what a really nice man he was.
