New EarthCam: A Public Safety Concern

Democrats & Republicans in Trenton should be concerned about the new EarthCam. The camera continuously livestreams Veterans Park and activity around our downtown square. Anyone with internet access can watch. But anyone with artificial intelligence tools can track and identify anyone on their home computer.
Imagine a stalker getting notified every time you drive around the square or you visit the park.
The camera is part of an initiative celebrating America’s 250th anniversary. Although intended to showcase our community, celebrating freedom with 24/7 surveillance is contradictory.
Alliance for Dade has emphasized that the camera does not use facial recognition or read license plates. The clarification is appreciated, but the camera DOESN’T have to – BAD PEOPLE will.
The livestream can reveal people’s routines: when children gather downtown, when employees arrive and leave, and when individuals regularly visit businesses or offices. Folks passing through the square probably do not realize they are being broadcasted worldwide.
One camera can quietly become many. Now is the time to speak. Contact the Alliance for Dade at [email protected] or (706) 657-4488. Respectfully request that the EarthCam be immediately removed while its dangers are publicly considered.
