Alabama First Class Pre-K Pre-Registration Now Open

SHARE NOW

Families across Alabama can now begin the pre-registration process for the state’s nationally recognized First Class Pre-K program, giving parents the opportunity to apply for high-quality early childhood education for the upcoming school year.

Parents and guardians must first create an online account to complete the pre-registration form. Officials emphasize that only one account per family should be created, as duplicate accounts may delay or disrupt the process. A valid email address is required, and families are encouraged to carefully capitalize and spell all names and information accurately.

Multiple children living in the same household may be entered using a single form. To be eligible, a child must be 4 years old on or before September 1 of the school year and must be a resident of Alabama.

During the pre-registration process, families may select one or more First Class Pre-K sites. Children can be pre-registered for multiple locations on the same application; however, public school-based programs may have eligibility restrictions based on school zones. Parents are advised to check with individual school systems for specific requirements.

Once submitted, pre-registration places the child into a random selection process for each site selected. Families will receive an email confirmation after completing the application.

Results of the random selection drawings will be sent by email no later than April 18. Children selected for available seats will receive an offer, which parents must either accept or decline. Children not selected will be placed on the site’s waiting list.

Families who need assistance with the pre-registration process are encouraged to contact the school or program where they are applying for help completing the form.

Parents who do not see a First Class Pre-K site in their area are invited to complete a survey to help the state plan for additional programs in the future.

Alabama’s First Class Pre-K program is widely recognized for its focus on early learning, school readiness, and long-term academic success for children statewide.
