Felon Arrested for Identity Theft, Weapons Violations, and Drug-Related Offenses In Flat Rock

On October 2, 2024, investigators with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office arrested a male suspect for possession of a controlled substance, identified as methamphetamine and fentanyl. During the investigation, authorities discovered that the individual had been using the identity and personal information of a deceased person.

The suspect was later confirmed to be Stuart Jeffery Sandrock, who has a prior felony conviction for Soliciting to Commit Murder in San Diego, California, dating back to 1993.

As the investigation progressed, a search warrant was executed on June 16, 2025, at Sandrock’s residence on County Road 81 in Flat Rock, Alabama. During the search, investigators recovered:

  • 33 firearms, including several classified as prohibited under federal law

  • Firearm suppressors

  • Thousands of rounds of ammunition

  • Documents and identification materials linked to the deceased individual whose identity Sandrock had assumed

Sandrock was arrested and formally charged with the following offenses:

  • Seven (7) counts of Identity Theft

  • Obstructing Justice Using a False Identity

  • One (1) count of Certain Persons Forbidden to Possess Firearms

  • Two (2) counts of Possession of a Short-Barreled Rifle

  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Additional charges are pending as the investigation continues.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office extends its appreciation to all agencies involved and reminds the public that all suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
