Two Arrested Following Major Drug Bust in Ider

DeKalb County, AL – May 28, 2025 – Following a lengthy and intensive investigation into narcotics distribution, the DeKalb County Drug Task Force has arrested two individuals in connection with illegal drug activity.

On Wednesday, May 28, members of the DeKalb County Special Response Team (SRT) executed a search warrant at a residence located at 594 County Road 784 in Ider, Alabama. The operation resulted in the arrests of Amanda Rhea Murphy, 30, of Ider, and Mark Anthony Collins, 40, of Henagar.

During the course of the investigation, authorities determined that Murphy and Collins had sold methamphetamine on multiple occasions to confidential informants. The search of the property led to the discovery of over 10 pounds of marijuana, as well as methamphetamine, prescription pills, and numerous items of drug paraphernalia.

Both suspects now face a range of serious charges, including:

  • Trafficking in controlled substances

  • Possession of controlled substances

  • Distribution of a controlled substance

  • Possession of drug paraphernalia

Sheriff Nick Welden praised the coordinated effort, stating:
