Due to the forecast of life threatening brutal cold temperatures and wind chills through Saturday, January 11*, DeKalb County EMA, DeKalb County Council on Aging, Marked For Life Ministries, and the DeKalb County Association of Fire Departments (Henagar Fire Department) have coordinated the provision of warming centers throughout DeKalb County, on an as needed basis, during this timeframe.
Any individuals requiring assistance through Saturday to temporarily move to a warming center should call Marked For Life Ministries 24/7 hotline at 888-789-4673 for assistance.
Marked For Life Ministries, DeKalb County EMA, DeKalb County Council on Aging and DeKalb County Public Transportation will direct individuals to the closest warming center and help provide unmet needs.
- These warming centers ARE NOT intended for long-term sheltering but can be used to mitigate life threatening impacts of this cold weather system.
- Although some provision of food and hydration may be available, at certain warming centers, it is highly recommended that individuals bring food and hydration supplies.
- Individuals with medical needs (medications, medical equipment, etc.) are responsible for ensuring these needs are met while using warming centers.
