The Dade County Wolverine football team is getting ready to take action for the 2024
season. Led by head coach Jeff Poston, entering his fifth season as the head coach, Poston has
made the state playoffs three years in a row during his tenure. The team starts with a jamboree
this Friday at Marion County that begins at 6:30 eastern time and 5:30 central. The Wolverines
will officially begin the season with a two game home stand against Ringgold and then Trion the
following week. The Wolverines will then be on the road for two games straight which we’ll see
them travel to Lafayette and Christian Heritage. The team will then alternate home and away
games hosting Fannin, traveling to Armuchee, returning home to play Gordon Lee, and then on
the road again to play the Coosa Eagles. The Wolverines will end the season with two home
games where they will play Chattooga for Homecoming, and Gordon Central for Senior Night.

The Wolverine offense returns six offensive starters from last year including quarterback
Bryson Shrader and wideout Demetrius Walker. Running Back Evan Koger also returns after a
year of absence. The offensive play calling has been handed over to coach Dustin White who is
entering his third year on the coaching staff. The offensive line is key to offensive success
according to Coach Poston, as they will be the key to create holes for the run game and protect
quarterback Bryson Sharder to throw the football. Shrader last year threw for over 1,000 yards
and looks to do the same this upcoming season. Shrader will be protected by a veteran offensive
line, as the entirety of the line are seniors. The Wolverine offense is going to be solid this year,
and looks to put up a lot of points to compete for a region championship.

The Dade County Defense looks to be a force to be reckoned with this year as the defense
is still being coached by Jason Monday. Coach Monday has done a terrific job as the Defensive
coordinator for the Wolverines, posting four shutouts since he took over the helm of the defense.
Coach Monday has also had one the top region defenses for the past few years. Although the
Wolverine defense does have the tough task of replacing eight starters from last season, they do
however return key starters Jace Anderson, Carter Christiansen, and Connor Cash. The defense
has a big veteran presence with eight seniors to lead the way. The defensive side of the ball has a
strong front seven with a good secondary. The Wolverine defense looks to help the offense as
well, by getting stops, forcing turnovers, and being dominant, to pave the way to compete for a
region championship.

A highly anticipated season awaits the Wolverines. The goal is still the same according to
Coach Poston in which he said, “The goal is a region championship and make the playoffs.” If
the Wolverines make the playoffs this year it would make the class of 2025 the winningest class
in school history, and they could be the first to win a region championship. Tune in this week for
the jamboree that starts at 6:30 eastern, 5:30 central. Follow Commentators Walley Grasham and
