  • The Grateful Dead have scored their highest charting album in nearly 35 years. The band's latest archival set, Dave’s Picks, Vol. 40: Deer Creek Music Center, Noblesville, IN 7/18/90 & 7/19/90, debuted at Number 13 on the Billboard 200 albums chart. The live collection, which has sold "nearly 23,000 equivalent album units earned in the U.S.," marks the Dead's best chart performance since its 1987 comeback album, In The Dark, which featured the iconic latter-day hit, "Touch Of Grey," which helped push the album to Number Six. • Van Morrison is being sued by Northern Ireland Health Minister Robin Swann for defamation. Morrison, who has been issuing anti-lockdown / Covid conspiracy singles with Eric Clapton, had gone on record claiming Swann's public restrictions have been, quote, "very dangerous." Swann’s lawyer, Paul Tweed, told the Belfast Telegraph’s Sunday Life: "Proceedings have been issued and are ongoing against Van Morrison. We are aiming for a trial in February." Van Morrison's lawyer Joe Rice told The Associated Press that the claim would be contested on the grounds "that the words used by him related to a matter of public interest and constituted fair comment." • Rush guitarist Alex Lifeson will perform on December 8th at the Andy Kim Christmas Show at Toronto's Massey Hall. The benefit concert headed up by the famed "Rock Me Gently" singer, will raise funds for CAMH Gifts of Light. In addition to Lifeson and Kim, other performers on the bill include the E Street Band's Jake Clemons, Men Without Hates, Pursuit Of Happiness, and Choir, Choir, Choir, among others.
