Paul McCartney appeared on the SmartLess podcast hosted by actors Jason Bateman, Sean Hayes, and Will Arnett. The hook of the show is one of the hosts reveals his mystery guest to the other two and “What ensues is a genuinely improvised and authentic conversation filled with laughter and newfound knowledge to feed the SmartLess mind.”
On the program, McCartney spoke candidly about dealing with the ongoing pandemic — and how he's rationalized the current global situation: “It's okay, really — we get bleeped moments, but basically it's okay. The future's gonna be good. (Laughs) Y'know, it's not always easy to think that, particularity these days, but Covid, it is like the war for my parents. Well, my parents go and have me in a war, when Hitler's raining bombs on Liverpool. They couldn't have been too optimistic that they were gonna win. But, I think this is just another war. This is something. . . Instead of, like, HIV, or SARS, or Avian Flu, that tended to happen to other people, we are all going through this together, which equates it — in my mind — to war.”
