A newly created poster chronicling Motley Crue's historic 1983 tour opening for Kiss will be commemorated with a limited edition print. Blabbermouth reported the poster designed by Iconic By Collectionzz, advertises the band's April 1st, 1983 venue opening show at Las Vegas' Aladdin Theatre, and will be released on Wednesday (July 29th). The new poster features "a Vegas-inspired design by Andrew Alekseev." Motley Crue returned to close out the venue on November 25th, 1997.
According to the press release, "(The theatre') very first concert was Kiss with Motley Crue. It was the first time Motley Crue performed in Las Vegas. They hit the stage with early anthems 'Live Wire' and 'Take Me To The Top,' 'Shout At The Devil,' and 'Looks That Kill.'"
Nikki Sixx looked back at the band breaking through to the next level as a road band: "I guess you could kind of look at it as a young band that was so hungry and so in its zone and we had yet to break, being like a young boxer. We just wanted to get in the ring with anybody. The ring was getting on that stage, playing in front of anybody's crowd. We didn't care whose it was because we believed in ourselves and we were in that place. We were in that positive place. Everything we were doing was working internally. We were just pushing it out and kicking ass. I guess we were naive enough not to go 'Woah, they have all this stuff and we really have nothing,' We were just like 'Wow, put us on that stage and cut us loose.'"
Nikki Sixx told us he's always been proud of being known as an L.A. band: ["Y'know, I used to say we were from Hollywood because we started in Hollywood, but we're from Los Angeles. Y'know, of course, being the 'Saints Of Los Angeles' is a little. . . tongue in cheek? 'Just doesn't have the same ring as the 'Sinners Of Los Angeles,' y'know."] SOUNDCUE (:14 OC: . . . Los Angeles y'know)
