John 5 Says New Motley Crue Music Will Be Out Soon

Motley Crue has made no secret about the fact it's recording again, working on fresh material with new guitarist John 5. The group's Nikki Sixx has confirmed one original track, “Dogs of War,” and that the Crue has also recorded a cover of the Beastie Boys' “(You Gotta) Fight For Your Right (to Party).” What fans are really wondering, though, is when we'll hear anything. John 5 recently told us that he expects it won't be long:

“I think we'll hear stuff pretty soon. I’m not sure, but I'm thinking very soon, and I think I'm more excited than anyone. I'm so excited for it to come out. I’m just over the moon about it, so I'm waiting with bated breath to get that email, 'Oh, here's when it's coming out.' But I know it's gonna be relatively soon.” :31

Motley Crue's last album, Saints of Los Angeles, came out during 2008. The group did record three new tracks for “The Dirt Soundtrack” in 2019, including “The Dirt (Est. 1981)” and “Crash and Burn,” both co-written with John 5. The group also performed on “The Retaliators (21 Bullets) from the 2022 horror film “The Retaliators.”

Motley Crue has been working with Bob Rock, who produced three previous albums — including “Dr. Feelgood” in 1989 — and the new songs for “The Dirt Soundtrack.”

John 5 joined the Motley Crue last year after original guitarist Mick Mars announced his retirement from the road due to health issues. The band contended he was no longer a member and Mars has sued Motley Crue over the matter, with the case still pending.

Motley Crue returns to the road May 3rd at the Hard Rock Hotel Casino in Atlantic City. It will also be performing at the Welcome to Rockville festival May 4 in Daytona Beach, Fla., Summerfest on June 21st in Milwaukee, the Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary on July 11th, the Ottawa Bluesfest on July 13th and at the North Dakota State Fair Center on July 19th. More shows are expected to be announced.

John 5, meanwhile, begins his own tour on January 26th in Santa Ana, Calif., with 30 dates wrapping up March 1st in San Diego.
