A new Eric Clapton documentary is set to premiere this week on Reelz. Eric Clapton: Story Of His Songs, will air on Sunday, April 4th at 5 p.m. ET, and focuses on three of ""Slowhand's"" most timeless tracks — "Cocaine," "My Father's Eyes," and "Tears In Heaven." In addition to journalists Anthony DeCurtis and Paul Gambaccini, the show features new and valuable insight from producer Simon Climie, and Clapton's bandmates, singer Tessa Niles and bassist Nathan East, among others.
Nathan East has recorded and toured with Clapton off and on since his 1986 August album. He reflected on the qualities that make his old pal such a unique artist: ["Eric is just a one-of-a-kind. There’s Eric and then there’s every other musician (laughs). Everything he touches seems to turn to gold, y'know? He has a beautiful voice and I’ve never met anyone who plays with such passion. Although still one of the greatest axe-men on the planet, Eric Clapton feels his playing lacks then intensity that it did back in the mid-'90s: ["I got a, a piece of footage from the mid-'90s of me when I was just playing a blues song, and I thought, 'Whoa.' There were some things that I was doing that I just don't even think I — (I) consciously let go of. Coming on April 23rd is Cream’s standalone vinyl release of Live At The Forum. The band's legendary October 19th, 1968 gig at The Los Angeles Forum was first released as part of last year’s Cream's Goodbye Tour Live 1968 four-CD set.
