William Benjamin “Bill” Phillips, 82, of Rossville, GA, passed away on Tuesday, April 8, 2025 in a local hospital.
Bill, also known as “Sonny” was born on March 31, 1943 in Valley Head, AL to the late Floyd Dallas & Bonnie Lee Steele Phillips. He was a graduate of Valley Head High School and U.T.C, where he received his B.A. degree. He was employed with Combustion Engineering for many years and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving on both the USS Chanticleer and USS Sperry. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his wives, Elizabeth Young & Emma Birchfield Phillips, & siblings, Joyce Phillips, Othell Kilgore, Willadean Cheaves, & Emmalee Lehman.
Left to cherish his memory is his son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey & Tammy Phillips of Rising Fawn, GA; sister, Sue Stone, Trenton, GA; brothers, Dallas (Vickie) Phillips of Huntsville, AL, & Jimmy (Adele) Phillips of Valley Head, AL.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 12th at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Aaron Wooten officiating. Full military honors will be presented by American Legion Post #106. Bill will be laid to rest in the Valley Head Cemetery.
