July 12, 1961 - November 26, 2024
Born on July 12, 1961, in Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia, to Vera Mae Hays and Herman Savage Cope, Janet grew up with a deep love and respect for her parents. At a young age, she took on the responsibility of helping care for her mother, who faced her own battle with cancer, a testament to Janet’s compassion, strength, and selflessness.
Janet’s greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends. She worked as a manager of several convenience stores for 21 years before transitioning to retail, where she spent 17 years connecting with people and forming lifelong friendships. Her kindhearted nature and desire to help others left an indelible mark on everyone she met.
Janet was a devoted member of Prospect Independent Church in Walker County, Alabama, until she moved back home to be with family and joined Five Points Baptist Church in Ider, Alabama. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, and she loved attending church and praising the Lord.
She is survived by her loving sons, Michael Eugene Norris Jr. and David Franklin Norris; her beloved granddaughter, Copelynn Reese Norris; and her three siblings, Charlene Dorothy McCririck, Susan Lynn Wooten, and David Herman Cope.
Janet’s legacy of love, faith, and kindness will live on in the hearts of her family and friends. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who were blessed to know her.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 29th at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Johnny Ellison officiating. Interment will follow in Lake Hills Memorial Gardens. Online condolences may be shared at ryanfuneralhome.net.
