Gertrude “Gert” Frances Hixon Hisey, age 101 went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 25, 2024. She was born on Lookout Mtn. to the late Rev. Luther Hixon and Beulah Frances Daniel Hixon, was a lifelong resident of the High Point Community and was a member of Lookout Baptist Church, since 1939. Gert was a graduate of Chattanooga Valley High School and was the first Homecoming Queen of the school. She was 12 years old when she started playing the piano and organ for church and was the organist at W.L. Wilson & Sons Funeral Home for more than 25 years. Gert was also preceded in death by her husband, J.F. “Duke” Hisey Sr.; grandsons, Gregory Medley and Jason Hisey; and sisters, Lucille Paris and Betty Thompson. She is survived by her children, J.F. “Pete” (Gwen) Hisey Jr and Sharon (Ray) Rich; grandchildren, Shawn (Bob Levy) Good, Shane (Sharon Broom) Tippens, Starr (Kent) Massey, and Jody Hisey; several great grandchildren; numerous great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, December 29, 2024 at Lookout Baptist Church, with Pastor Terry Burns and Pastor Greg Nash officiating. Interment will follow in High Point Community Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Saturday at the funeral home and from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm on Sunday at the church.
