Voters in both Georgia and Alabama will head to the polls Tuesday, June 16, for primary runoff elections, with regular polling locations open across both states.

In Dade County, Republican voters will decide the District 1 County Commission race between Jane Dixon and Robby Ryan. The runoff follows the May primary election, where neither candidate received enough votes to secure the nomination outright.

Meanwhile, in neighboring Alabama, Republican voters in Jackson County will select their party’s nominee for sheriff. Chief Deputy Eric Woodall and Lieutenant Craig Holcomb advanced to the runoff after receiving the most votes in last month’s primary election.

Election officials remind voters that all regular precinct polling locations will be open Tuesday. Polls in Georgia will operate from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m., and Alabama polling places will also be open from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. local time.

Voters are encouraged to verify their polling location before heading to the polls and should bring a valid photo ID. Anyone in line when polls close will still be allowed to vote.

Results from both runoff elections are expected to begin coming in shortly after polls close Tuesday evening.
