On Wednesday, July 3, at approximately 2:40 p.m., Dade County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO) deputies were dispatched to a residence in the 2800 block of New Home Road following a report of a possible mannequin floating in a pond.
Upon arrival, deputies discovered the body of a deceased male subject in the water. The scene was immediately secured, and the DCSO Criminal Investigations Division was notified. Investigators arrived at approximately 2:55 p.m.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) was subsequently contacted and responded to assist with the investigation. DCSO investigators, deputies, and GBI agents began processing the scene, utilizing both manual techniques and aerial mapping through DCSO’s Drone Unit.
The deceased is believed to be a local man in his mid-40s. While investigators have a preliminary identification, confirmation is pending autopsy and positive identification by the GBI Medical Examiner’s Office. The individual’s identity will not be released until that confirmation is made.
The circumstances surrounding the death remain under investigation. Further details will be released as they become available.
