T-SPLOST to Appear on November General Election Ballot; Expenditures Approved for Historic Courthouse Project

On Thursday, April 7th, the Dade County Board of Commissioners met for their monthly workshop and meeting.

Dade County voters may have another thing to vote on in the November general elections; as it appears the Dade County Board of Commissioners will bring T-SPLOST back to the vote. Multiple commissioners gave spirited speeches regarding what T-SPLOST passing would bring to the community. The video of the workshop and meeting can be viewed at the bottom of the story.

During the meeting, Bruce Case of Blevins Construction Management, Inc presented the company’s bid on the Historic Courthouse Restoration Project. SPLOST funds of $1.8 million were approved for the project.

Ordinance No. 05-05-22; the Second Amendment Ordinance proposed recently by Commissioner Lamar Lowery, prohibiting use of County resources to enforce gun restrictions or gun accessory laws in violation of State laws passed on its first reading. The following appointments were made within governmental bodies:

-Leisa Cagle appointed as member of the Industrial Development Authority to fulfill the unexpired term of Mr. Peter Cervelli

-George Williams appointed as member of the Industrial Development Authority to fulfill the unexpired term of Mr. Larry Case

-Donna Street re-appointed to Dade County Library’s Board of Trustees

Following the Joint Comprehensive Plan Five-Year Update, the Board of Commissioners and City of Trenton has released a community survey to gauge interest in certain projects in which they will be directing funds.
