North Georgia Unemployment Rates Remain Below State, National Averages
Unemployment across much of northwest Georgia remained below both the state and national averages in the latest labor market report, highlighting continued strength in the region’s workforce.
Dade County posted an unemployment rate of 2.9 percent, while neighboring Catoosa County came in at 2.8 percent, both below the Georgia unemployment rate of 3.3 percent and well below the national unemployment rate of 4.1 percent.
Other counties in the region also reported low unemployment rates:
- Walker County: 3.0%
- Whitfield County: 3.3%
- Chattooga County: 3.8%
- Gordon County: 2.8%
The latest figures indicate that employers across northwest Georgia continue to hire despite ongoing economic uncertainty. Economic development officials say the low unemployment rates reflect a healthy labor market but also underscore the challenge many businesses face in finding qualified workers.
Dade County continues to maintain one of the region’s lowest unemployment rates, a positive sign for the local economy as businesses continue to expand and new employment opportunities are created throughout northwest Georgia.
Georgia’s statewide unemployment rate remains below the national average, continuing the state’s trend of a comparatively strong labor market.
