The accident occurred near the South Pittsburg exit, Sunday night at about 10:30 ET. According to THP, the vehicle which he was driving, a Nissan, veered off the side of the interstate, crossing the median, striking a tractor trailer head-on.Buckner was transported to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The driver of the tractor trailer has been identified as Alfred Wilson, 65 year old who was also injured and transferred to hospital.The accident shut down I-24 for a number of hours and did not re-open until late Monday morning.Buckner’s obituary is available here on the Mountain Valley Independent.
