DADE TO BATTLE FANNIN TONIGHT FOR THE REGION CHAMPIONSHIP

Blue Ridge—For the first time since football started in 1949 in Dade County, the Dade football team will play for the Region Championship on the last night of the regular season.  Tonight at 7:30 PM at Fannin County High, the 27th ranked Wolverines with a 7-2 record will match up against the #16 ranked Fannin County Rebels with a record of 8-1. The winner tonight will take on Bremen at home next week in the first round of the GHSA State Playoffs while the loser will finish 2nd in the region and will host the loser of the Heard County-Callaway game which is also being played tonight.

This year has been a remarkable turnaround for Coach Jeff Poston’s Wolverines as they have gone from 2-8 last year to 7-2 this year and hosting a first round game in the GHSA State Playoff

Dade County has 4 region championships in their 72 year football history with the last being in 1970. Dade also won region championships in 1956,1959 and 1960.

Tonight’s game will be available live on WKWN 1420 AM and 101.3 FM or available around the world on the WKWN app on your smart phone or tablet starting at 7 PM ET with Don Walker and Brandon Tierce bringing you all the action from Fannin.
