Dade County Sheriff warns of rental scam.
We are receiving reports of a person advertising houses for rent in Trenton, as well as surrounding areas.
This person represents themselves as “Michael”, and advertises houses that don’t belong to him. The number is out of state, and we have contacted the company that owns the property. They are aware of the person, and reported to us that it is definitely a scam.
PLEASE DON’T FALL FOR STUFF LIKE THIS.
Tips…..
1) If it’s too good to be true, it probably is.
2) If someone wants to do business with you over the phone, not meet in person, and collect money over the phone, you should probably reevaluate the situation.
3) Do your own research. Google the person, company, or property and verify the owner.
4) When in doubt, err on the side of caution.
