The principal of Dade County High School has been placed on administrative leave as the Dade County Sheriff’s Office conducts an investigation, according to a statement released Thursday by Dade County School Superintendent Josh Ingle.
In a letter dated October 29, Ingle informed parents and families that the school district had been notified earlier in the day of a law enforcement investigation involving the high school’s principal.
The announcement comes after the Dade County Sheriff’s Office reported an increased law enforcement presence at Dade County High School while investigating a complaint.
Authorities emphasized that the investigation does not involve violence or any threat of violence and that all students and staff are safe.
Ingle said the district is cooperating fully with investigators and has placed the principal on administrative leave pending further information.
“The safety and well-being of our students remain our highest priority,” Ingle stated in the letter.
During the principal’s absence, two assistant principals will oversee daily school operations, with additional support from district leadership.
Ingle assured families that the district remains focused on maintaining a safe, stable, and supportive learning environment for students and staff.
The superintendent also said he will work closely with the Dade County Board of Education to determine appropriate next steps as the investigation continues.
Because the matter involves an active law enforcement investigation, Ingle said the district is limited in what information it can release.
The nature of the allegations involving the principal has not been disclosed, and authorities have not announced any charges.
Anyone with information that could assist investigators is encouraged to contact the Dade County Sheriff’s Office at 706-657-3233.
The Sheriff’s Office previously stated that additional information would be released when available.
The investigation remains ongoing.
