February 7, 2022:

Dade County Schools (DCS) is pleased to announce that there have been no reports of close contact clusters that have resulted in positive COVID-19 cases within our schools since the beginning of the second semester. Therefore, (DCS) will discontinue mandatory quarantines for all students found to have been in close contact with a positive COVID-19 case while at school.

This modified quarantine procedure begins immediately and only applies to close contacts identified at school. DCS students that have tested positive for COVID-19, or have been identified as a close contact within a household, shall continue to follow the isolation / quarantine protocols based on the latest GaDPH guidelines. Please communicate with your child’s school nurse to determine isolation / quarantine dates.

Dade Elementary School: (706) 657 – 6165

Davis Elementary School: (706) 657 – 6300

Dade Middle School: (706) 657 – 3050

Dade County High School: (706) 657 – 7517

DCS will continue daily communication for students identified as close contacts at school. Those identified as close contacts will not be required to quarantine as long as they remain asymptomatic.

The safety of our students and staff remains a top priority for Dade County Schools. We will continue to report our weekly COVID-19 positive cases and post the data on our website. Furthermore, DCS will continue cleaning and disinfecting our facilities in an effort to continue in-person teaching and learning. Should DCS experience an increase in school-related, positive COVID-19 cases, these guidelines may be adjusted accordingly to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 within our school system.

If you have any questions about the updated guidelines, please feel free to contact your child’s school.

Sincerely,

Josh Ingle

Superintendent
