Cooling Assistance Program Opens for Homebound and Elderly Households

The State of Georgia’s Department of Human Services, along with North Georgia Community Action, INC announced recently that the Cooling Assistance Program is open for home-bound and elderly households, as of April 1, 2022.

All households participating in the program must provide verification and meet income criteria, be responsible for paying the cost of energy for home cooling directly to the supplier, and be a U.S. Citizen or alien admitted to the U.S. for lawful, permanent residence.

To apply for the Cooling Assistance Program, call the Community Service Center in your area to get on the list and receive instructions about submitting documents for your application. In-person services are closed to the public due to COVID-19.
