This year’s 1945 Dade County Fair is slated to be the biggest yet.

For those who may not know, July 4th holds two holidays in Dade County: our nation’s Independence Day, and the date where the “Independent State of Dade” “rejoined” the United States of America in 1945. Harry S. Truman had a train car from Washington deliver an American Flag to be hoisted above the courthouse, along with a telegraph reading; “Welcome home, patriots!”

Talent shows, softball and cornhole tournaments, pinewood derbies, BINGO, and a slew of live performances ranging from stage shows to musical guests are on the docket for event lasting from “Noon to Dark.” Headlining the event will be country artist T. Graham Brown.

Come join the festivities at Jenkins Park this Saturday!
