Cloudland Canyon State Park

Visitors to Cloudland Canyon State Park will have an opportunity to discover the fascinating geological history of the canyon during a special guided hike on Wednesday, October 21.

The program, titled “Going Deep: Geology of the Canyon Bottom,” will take participants on an educational adventure through the lower portion of the canyon, exploring the incredible geological features that make the park one of Northwest Georgia’s most scenic destinations.

Participants will learn about the rock walls, overhead formations, streams and natural features that have shaped the canyon over time.

The adventure begins at 10 a.m. at the park’s Interpretive Center. From there, participants will drive to the lower Sitton’s Gulch Trailhead for a moderate, one-mile hike through the canyon.

The guided experience is expected to last approximately an hour and a half, offering visitors a chance to enjoy the area’s natural beauty while learning more about the geology beneath their feet.
