Drivers in Dade and Walker counties are paying some of the lowest gasoline prices in Georgia, according to the latest report from AAA – The Auto Club Group.
The Catoosa-Dade-Walker metro area currently has an average gas price of $3.61 per gallon, making it one of the three least expensive metro markets in the state.
That price is 12 cents below Georgia’s statewide average of $3.73 per gallon and 68 cents below the national average of $4.29.
For drivers in Dade and Walker counties filling up a standard 15-gallon tank, the regional average translates to approximately $54.15, compared to $55.95 statewide.
While prices have been declining across Georgia, AAA warns that rising crude oil prices could slow further relief at the pump.
Crude oil prices climbed sharply last Friday amid concerns about potential global supply disruptions. AAA says continued volatility in the oil market could place renewed upward pressure on gasoline prices.
“Crude oil prices and potential supply disruptions remain factors to watch for drivers,” said Montrae Waiters, spokeswoman for AAA – The Auto Club Group. “While market conditions remain uncertain, drivers can help manage fuel costs by shopping around for the best prices, taking advantage of fuel rewards programs, and planning trips efficiently.”
Georgia’s statewide average of $3.73 per gallon is down 8 cents from last week and 36 cents from a month ago. However, prices remain 91 cents higher than they were at this time last year.
Nationally, the average price for regular gasoline has dropped 6 cents over the past week to $4.29 per gallon. Despite the decline, elevated crude oil prices continue to limit the seasonal decrease in fuel costs typically seen during the fall.
Across Georgia, Savannah has the highest metro average at $3.83 per gallon, followed by Hinesville-Fort Stewart at $3.78 and Atlanta at $3.75.
The least expensive markets are Albany at $3.57, the Catoosa-Dade-Walker area at $3.61, and Brunswick at $3.64.
AAA encourages drivers in Dade and Walker counties to compare prices at local stations, take advantage of fuel rewards programs, and combine errands to reduce unnecessary travel.
Motorists can also improve fuel economy by keeping their vehicles properly maintained, avoiding aggressive acceleration, and reducing speeds when possible.
Although Northwest Georgia drivers are currently benefiting from some of the lowest prices in the state, AAA cautions that changing oil market conditions could affect what motorists pay at the pump in the coming weeks.
