DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office Reports 68 Calls During Fourth of July Weekend

The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office says deputies remained busy throughout the Fourth of July weekend, responding to dozens of calls while working to keep the community safe.

According to the sheriff’s office, deputies responded to a total of 68 calls for service over the holiday weekend. That included 27 calls on Saturday, July 4, and 41 calls on Sunday, July 5.

The calls covered a wide range of incidents, including domestic disturbances, traffic crashes, suspicious activity, welfare checks, animal complaints, traffic stops, reports, and other situations requiring a deputy’s response.

Sheriff’s officials emphasized that every call is important, whether it involves a life-threatening emergency or someone simply needing assistance. The office also recognized the dedication of its deputies, dispatchers, correctional officers, and support staff who worked around the clock during the holiday.

“The safety of our citizens is always our top priority,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement, noting that personnel continued serving the community 24 hours a day throughout the busy weekend.

The sheriff’s office also thanked DeKalb County residents for celebrating the Independence Day holiday responsibly, saying their cooperation helped make the weekend safer for everyone.
