Motorists in Dade, Walker and Catoosa counties continue to enjoy some of the lowest gas prices in Georgia as fuel costs decline following the Independence Day holiday.

According to AAA, the Catoosa-Dade-Walker metro area has the state’s second-lowest average price for regular gasoline at $3.37 per gallon, trailing only Albany at $3.36. By comparison, the Atlanta metro average is $3.52, while Savannah has the state’s highest average at $3.71.

Statewide, Georgia’s average price for regular gasoline has dropped 5 cents over the past week and is now 34 cents lower than a month ago, although prices remain 62 cents higher than this time last year.

AAA says lower crude oil prices and ample fuel supplies are helping keep prices trending downward, providing additional savings for drivers during the busy summer travel season. The organization encourages motorists to compare prices and take advantage of lower-cost stations in their area.

At the current statewide average, filling a standard 15-gallon tank of regular gasoline costs about $52.95.

Nationally, the average price for regular gasoline has fallen nearly 45 cents over the past month to $3.80 per gallon. While that remains above prices from a year ago, it is well below the May peak of $4.56, as declining crude oil prices continue to ease costs at the pump.

AAA also reminds drivers that current gas prices and electric vehicle charging costs can be found using its TripTik Travel Planner.
