DADE COUNTY HOLDS PUBLIC HEARING ON PROPOSED FY 2027 BUDGET

TRENTON, Ga. — Dade County officials took another step toward adopting the Fiscal Year 2027 budget Thursday during a public hearing at the Dade County Administration Building.

County Executive Don Townsend, Commissioners Bill Pullen and Phillip Hartline, Chief Financial Officer Rebecca Jones, and several department heads attended the hearing.

The hearing provided residents an opportunity to review the proposed budget and offer comments before final consideration later this month. During the citizen participation portion of the meeting, one question was presented by Dade County resident Susie Talbott.

The proposed budget currently reflects an estimated deficit of approximately $700,000, driven largely by increased employee health insurance costs, rising fuel expenses, and higher contracted service costs.

County officials will continue reviewing the budget before final action is taken.

The next scheduled step in the budget process will be a Special Called Meeting on Tuesday, June 30th at 10 a.m., when commissioners are expected to consider final approval of the Fiscal Year 2027 budget. The meeting will be held at the Dade County Administration Building and will also be streamed live on the county’s Facebook page and YouTube channel.

The new fiscal year budget will take effect July 1st.
