A Dade County High School graduate is among 47 students across northwest Georgia who have been awarded scholarships through The Foundation at Georgia Northwestern Technical College (GNTC).

The Foundation recently announced the awarding of 48 scholarships totaling more than $37,000 to graduating high school seniors throughout its nine-county service area. The scholarships are designed to help students continue their education and workforce training at GNTC.

Representing Dade County, Brittany Green of Trenton, a graduate of Dade County High School, was selected to receive the Foundation’s High School Graduate Scholarship. The scholarship is awarded annually to one senior from each public high school and college and career academy within GNTC’s service region.

Green was among a distinguished group of students recognized for their academic achievements and commitment to furthering their education. Scholarship recipients were selected from schools across northwest Georgia, including Chattooga, Walker, Gordon, Floyd, Polk, Murray, Whitfield and Catoosa counties.

The Foundation’s scholarship program aims to reduce financial barriers for students pursuing technical education and career training opportunities. GNTC serves a nine-county region and offers programs designed to prepare students for high-demand careers throughout northwest Georgia.

The Foundation at GNTC is supported by a board of trustees representing communities throughout the college’s service area. Among those serving on the Foundation board is Dade County representative Linda Case.

College officials say the scholarship program continues to play an important role in helping local students achieve their educational goals while strengthening the region’s future workforce.
