Dade County Board of Elections Announces Recount, Certification Meeting, and Runoff Election Information

TRENTON, Ga. — The Dade County Board of Elections & Registration has announced several upcoming election-related dates and procedures following the May 19 General Primary Election.

Election officials say the board will move forward with certification of the May primary results before conducting a special called recount proceeding in the County Commissioner District 1 race after receiving a qualifying recount request under Georgia law.

The recount is tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, May 27th at 10 a.m. at the Dade County Board of Elections Office.

The District 1 Commission race remains extremely close, with Jane Dixon holding a two-vote advantage over candidate Gene McBryar 467-465 in unofficial results released following Election Day.  Robby Ryan received the most votes at 577

Officials are also reminding voters about important dates ahead of the June 16th General Primary Runoff Election.

The deadline to request an absentee ballot for the runoff election is Friday, June 5th.

Early voting for the runoff will take place at the Dade County Administrative Building Commission Room located on Case Avenue in Trenton.

Voters who choose not to vote early must cast ballots at their assigned precincts on Election Day between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.
