Dade County Commissioners to Review EMS Services, Equipment, and Proclamations at May 7 Meeting

DADE COUNTY, Ga. — The Dade County Board of Commissioners will take up a wide-ranging agenda Thursday evening, with a strong focus on emergency services, infrastructure, and routine county business.

The meeting will begin with a 6:00 p.m. workshop, where commissioners are expected to review several proclamations recognizing community observances, including Foster Care Month, the National Day of Prayer, Armed Forces Day, and National Travel and Tourism Week.

One of the key items on the agenda involves emergency medical services. Officials will review a request for proposals for ambulance service coverage across the county’s EMS zone. In addition, commissioners are set to consider multiple resolutions tied to EMS improvements, including lease purchase agreements for two new ambulances and additional equipment funded through a grant.

The board will also consider a lease agreement for a radio communications tower with the Georgia Forestry Commission, as well as a resolution to dispose of surplus property from the New Salem Fire Department.

Other items include a monthly update on the construction of the county’s election building and any potential SPLOST-related capital equipment approvals.

Following the workshop, the board will convene its regular monthly meeting at 7:00 p.m. That session will include public comment, commissioner district reports, and an executive update from Chairman Don Townsend.

Commissioners will also hear presentations from local partners, including UGA Extension, the Dade County Public Library, and the Alliance for Dade Chamber of Commerce. Financial reports and monthly investment updates are also scheduled for review and approval.

Both meetings will be held at the Dade County Administrative Building and are open to the public.
