High Fire Danger Warning Issued Across Tri-State Area

NORTH GEORGIA / NORTHEAST ALABAMA / SOUTHEAST TENNESSEE — The National Weather Service has issued a High Fire Danger Warning for much of the region due to dry conditions and gusty winds.

Officials say a combination of low humidity, dry vegetation, and increasing winds is creating conditions where fires can start easily and spread rapidly.

What This Means

Residents are urged to avoid:

  • Outdoor burning
  • Discarding cigarettes on the ground
  • Any activity that could create sparks

Even small fires can quickly get out of control under current conditions.

Weather Conditions Driving the Risk

Meteorologists say a cold front moving through the region is bringing strong winds and drier air, increasing the potential for wildfire activity.

Officials warn that any fire that develops could spread quickly, especially in wooded and mountainous areas.

Safety Reminder

Emergency officials are asking residents to:

  • Postpone all outdoor burning
  • Stay alert for smoke or fire activity
  • Report any fires immediately to 911

The high fire danger is expected to continue until conditions improve.
