Warming Shelter to Open in Scottsboro as Cold Weather Arrives

A warming shelter will open Friday, Jan. 30, 2026, at 4 p.m. to provide a safe, heated space for individuals in need as cold weather moves into the area.

The shelter will be located at the Scottsboro Jackson County Rescue Squad Building, 404 Cedar Hill Drive in Scottsboro.

Community members who are without adequate housing or reliable heat are encouraged to take advantage of the shelter. Organizers say the location will remain open as needed based on weather conditions.

Updates regarding closing times and additional dates of operation will be shared as the weather situation develops.
